Show Application

Normal Show Application Form

The normal show application form is for anyone, but most probably those who have a sense of the kind of show they want to do or have done before - nominate one of you to represent your show, and fill in the appropriate details; included in this I need to know how many of you will be in the show and who they are. Importantly please indicate if you feel that your show would be described as specialist, i.e. it focuses on one genre or brand of music (be that drum and bass or just new music). The application process then becomes a balancing act of trying to locate these shows together, providing space for both quality shows and shows that don't fit in mainstream media, and accommodating availability. The form will be fairly straight forward, but it is well worth double checking before you submit so you don't send me availability that you can't actually do.

Hub Show Application

Does not require you to make a demo. Ideal for people just starting out, and content heavy shows. The hub shows have been designed for newer members, or those wishing to get to grips with a far more professional radio environment. Aside from the team run shows that Fresh Air provides - Music, Arts and News - there will be a number of shows that will be run in a similar vein to that of professional radio. These will offer space for people to gain invaluable experience, not only presenting and producing on-air, but also with the off air duties - editing, organizing and preparing content. Hub shows are ideal for those yet to meet that perfect presenting partner, for those who don't yet feel comfortable either presenting or producing, and for those with not enough time to dedicate to their own show. That said, there will be a number of Hub Shows dedicated to more specialist genres, which will hope to match up experienced members with new members that share the same interests - given the nature of these shows, it might be possible that some who have applied for their shows will be able to get involved, or potentially have other members involved in their shows.

If you want to apply for both a show of your own and to take part in a hub show then go ahead - that is totally fine!

Handing In Demo

This year we are asking that demos are submitted on a CD (please note that USB will not necessarily be returnable). Hub show applications do not require you to make a demo (but are ideal for developing a demo for show applications later in the academic year) or sign a release form.

Actually Getting a Show

After applying for a show, you should hear a few days before the beginning of the semester, at which point members must email me to confirm their show and time, and print and fill out a release form (which must be signed by every member of the show) - the instructions for which will be sent out in the e-mail. This stage does not guarantee you a show, as there will be a number of changes still to be made to accommodate unavailability.
