Studio Refurbishment October 2011

Power

Following our small / massive power blow out on the opening day of broadcast, we've rewired in the electrics for the studio. Starting from scratch, all vital systems for 24hour playout -streaming PC, Playout PC, Megatron - are now running with a surge-proof battery backup incase of any future surges. All of the rest of the power needs for the studio have been rewired onto independent Extension chords and multi-sockets, all properly labelled and untangled.

Mic Stands

A new crane arm has been fitted to replace the broken one for Presenter 2's microphone.

Studio Refurbishment Summer 2011

Studio 1

Over the summer, we've reset all the computers and re cabled most of the studio. Much of the wiring that was flying all over the studio was still remaining of our FM broadcast days, so much has been redone to make the entire studio more efficient and understandable. The Oversized FM antennae still remains though, in case the need to pollute the local radio waves appears again.

PC's

Studio one enters the 21st century with dual monitors for the PCs. This has meant taking out some of the furnishings and rebuilding bits of the studio that were looking a little dust heavy, but worth it now we can see both the homepage and audio players at the same time. Both presenters Pc's have been rebuilt, and the entire studio networked together to make way for...

Megatron

A new life for our oversized server. On it come August will be, finally, for the first time our entire music library and broadcast history. It will hold all of our music, and record all of our output, making it easier for shows to find the songs they need and record and upload their finished shows. More details and user guides to follow.

Webcams

Being set up to stream out with the audio stream from the website, with two cameras capturing every bit of the studio.

Playout system

Expecting an experimental move away from Zara radio to Rivendell system for a beta test during the fringe.

Studio 2

Rewiring a new mixer and Cd players to make using our off air studio even simpler. Also attempting building some acoustic panelling to get the most of the room we're given by EUSA Pleasence, the operators of the buildings where we are housed.
